Mario Piattini, Manuel Serrano, Ricardo Perez-Castillo, Guido Peterssen and Jose Luis Hevia, members of aQuantum, have co-authored the article entitled “Toward a Quantum Software Engineering” published in the IT Professional journal of the IEEE.

This article addresses the lack of models, standards, or methods to help us in the creation of new quantum information systems and the migration of current “classical” ones.

This article revises the evolution of software engineering techniques and propose a set of priority subject areas to be addressed: design of quantum hybrid systems, quantum programs testing, quantum programs quality assurance, and quantum re-engineering and modernization.

The authors insist on the urgency of developing and/or adapting the classical software engineering techniques to quantum programming characteristics; and that these proposals should be agnostic from the quantum computing technology.

The aQuantum Team congratulates Mario, Manuel, Ricardo, Guido and Pepe for the publication of this article.
